About the 2020 Steeplechase Distance Run

The safety and health of our patients, caregivers, team members and physicians are always our highest priorities.  Because COVID-19 is changing how we do things on a day to day basis, we are going virtual with our Steeplechase Distance Run in 2020.  Social distancing may be keeping us from getting together at the 2020 Steeplechase Distance Run but it won't keep us from impacting thousands of local patients and their families who rely of the Steeplechase Cancer Center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset for hope and healing.

Runners, walkers, cancer survivors, physicians, families and friends will have two opportunities to participate in the 12th Annual Steeplechase Distance Run.  They can run, walk, bike or even swim 10K, 5K or 2 Miles between September 27 and October 4 or they can challenge themselves to run or walk 100 miles during the month of September.  No matter what they choose, each participant will receive a t-shirt and goodie bag prior to the event.  Also, all finishers of the 100 mile challenge will receive a commemorative finishers medal.

Funds raised through entry fees, individual and team fundraising and sponsorships will help fund over $100,000 in free supportive services to patients which include support groups, educational programs, yoga, massage therapy, reiki therapy, jin shin jytsu, meditation, art therapy, healthy cooking, exercise programs and transportation. The Cancer Center offers comprehensive services for the diagnosis and treatment of all cancers, enabling patients to see their doctors, undergo advanced outpatient treatment, and participate in promising cancer research studies all in one place close to home.

By supporting the Steeplechase Distance Run, you are impacting thousands of local patients and their families who rely on the Steeplechase Cancer Center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset for hope and healing. As the only acute-cute hospital in Somerset County, we are committed to improving the lives of all who live and work in our community. Your support enables us to add years and quality to many lives.
